Introduction:
Liu Junfang is a inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of Shu embroidery and a master artisan. With 20 years of experience in Shu embroidery, she has mastered its intricate needlework techniques and dedicated herself to the development and innovation of Shu embroidery culture. Leveraging the flexibility and adaptability of Shu embroidery, she combines traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques. Her high-end custom works primarily focus on restoring traditional attire, while also incorporating Shu embroidery elements into everyday items such as bookmarks, masks, scarves, leather bags, and notebooks, bringing this ancient art into contemporary life. Her high-end embroidered pieces are not only sold domestically but also exported to countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, Hungary, and Switzerland.
In October 2019, as the only Shu embroidery inheritor, she participated in the "Cultural China · Splendid Sichuan" event hosted by the Sichuan Provincial Government at the Palais des Nations in Geneva (Europe), the headquarters of the United Nations. Representing Shu embroidery, she promoted Chengdu’s urban image and cultural charm to the world, earning widespread acclaim from Western audiences. The State Council Information Office specially released related news, recognizing her contributions to cultural exchange and friendship between China and the world.
Over her nearly two decades in Shu embroidery, Liu Junfang has provided employment opportunities for dozens of embroiderers, enabling them to work from home while balancing family responsibilities and income. To further promote Shu embroidery, she has visited communities, enterprises, schools, and military units, introducing Shu embroidery culture to thousands of people of all ages, making significant contributions to its dissemination.
