Set off in the cool early morning breeze. Pause for rest in Dujiangyan. Travel along the ancient Tang-Tibet Ancient Road upstream the Zagunao River, as if wandering through time. Overlook tall Qiang villages on valley cliffs, pass Zhegu Mountain Tunnel, and take photos at the watershed of the Yangtze and Yellow Rivers. Cross Chazhen Ridge, and vast grassland scenery unfolds fully. The winding Gaqu River lies against rolling mountains. Admire the stunning Moon Bay at sunset before arriving in Hongyuan.

Depart Hongyuan early. Enjoy gorgeous grassland views and experience profound Tibetan Buddhist culture. Drive across China’s second largest wetland, and spot elegant black-necked cranes by riversides. Climb smooth hills to view the breathtaking First Bend of the Yellow River. Ride Hequ horses galloping on lush meadows, and visit distinctive local herdsmen residences for an impressive ethnic experience.

Start the journey amid early summer grassland dewdrops. Reach Langmu Temple at noon. It consists of Gerdi Temple in Sichuan and Sezhi Temple in Gansu, both prestigious Gelug Tibetan Buddhist shrines. Nestled at the northern foot of Guermang Ridge, there lies a cave behind Gerdi Temple. Inside stands a rock resembling a graceful fairy, named Langmu in Tibetan. The full name means Fairy in Tiger Cave. Visit Flower Lake in the afternoon and head to Zoige afterwards.

Leave Zoige in the morning. Visit the well-known Baxi Conference Site of the Red Army Long March, and appreciate diverse Tibetan customs and architectures. Arrive at ancient Songpan County before dinner and stroll around to feel its historic charm.

Begin the return trip. Visit Baima Ethnic Village and Bao’en Ancient Temple, listen to melodious local folk tunes, and head back home with sincere blessings from local villagers.
